Frequently Asked Questions
All-New Curbside Recycling Program
Why is recycling no longer included in my trash service price?
The new recycling program operates differently from previous programs and includes updated processing requirements. Because of those changes, recycling is now offered as a separate, optional service.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. Use this link to sign up for our curbside recycling service:
Do I have to have curbside recycling?
Curbside recycling is completely optional and separate from trash service. Participation is available for customers who choose to add it.
Why can't I get a smaller recycling cart?
At this time, recycling carts are only available in a single 90-gallon size to maintain necessary consistency for collection and processing.
With curbside recycling, I won't need as large of a trash bin. Can I downsize?
Customers interested in downsizing are welcome to do so. We offer 90, 60, and 40-gallon carts. Existing customers just need to call our office so we can review eligibility and make the change.
I'm not allowed to use the clear bags anymore?
We know this is an adjustment. Plastic bags contaminate recycling streams and can damage processing equipment, which is why recyclables must be placed loose in the cart. This helps ensure materials are actually recycled.
What if I do not want to pay for recycling?
Curbside recycling pick up is an entirely optional service. Our recycling yard remains available for dropping off recyclable materials 5 days a week, M-F, from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
When did the old recycling program stop?
Our precious residential curbside recycling program was suspended in late 2024.
Are you just trying to make more money?
Our goal is to offer recycling as a valuable service to our customers, while covering the real costs associated with staffing, collection, processing, and compliance. Customers who do not wish to participate are not affected.
How much is curbside recycling?
Recycling is available for an additional $12 per month, billed quarterly at $36, and is collected every other week on your regularly scheduled trash day.
What items cannot go in the blue-lid recycling bin?
We have outlined what items are accepted (and not) on this page:
I think this new program is rubbish.
We understand that not everyone will agree with the program. Our intent is to clearly explain the option so customers can decide what works best for their household.
